Inspiring Vacations & AmaWaterways
Journey deeper into the heart of every destination.
Fly Stay Cruise, Cruise & Tour or Cruise & Stay - three ways to pair an AmaWaterways river cruise with everything Inspiring Vacations does on land. Unpack once, and let the view change every morning.
So many ways to travel
Three cruising styles, one partner. Start with the river, then decide how you want it - the flights and hotels taken care of, an escorted land tour built around the sailing, or a destination stay either side of it.
Traditional Fly Stay Cruise packages as you know them - return international airfares, hotel nights before and after the sailing, all transfers, and the AmaWaterways cruise with its included shore excursions and dining. Everything in one price.
An AmaWaterways cruise paired back with an Inspiring Vacations land tour - so you see the countries properly, guided, as well as the river. Escorted touring and rail legs between the cities, then the ship for the stretch the road cannot reach.
An AmaWaterways cruise paired back with a destination stay - arrive early, linger longer, and let the city do the rest. Book your own flights or take the air credit, and keep the pace entirely your own.
Choose your waterway
Four rivers, one partner. Each one moves at its own pace and opens a different part of the world. Pick a river to see its ports, its ships and the journeys that sail it.
Germany · Austria · Slovakia · Hungary
The one most people picture first, and with good reason. Four capitals in a week, Wachau Valley vineyards on both banks, and Budapest lit up as you sail in. The Danube is the easiest river to fall for and the hardest to leave.
Sailing on the AmaWaterways European fleet - twin balcony staterooms, a heated sun-deck pool and complimentary bicycles at most ports.
Switzerland · France · Germany · Netherlands
Basel to Amsterdam through the Rhine Gorge, with a castle on almost every bend and half-timbered towns tucked into the vineyards. Short enough to add to a land tour, rich enough to stand on its own.
Sailing on the AmaWaterways European fleet - the Chef's Table restaurant, Sip & Sail cocktail hour, and guided hikes and bike rides ashore.
Germany
The quiet achievers. The Main threads the medieval heart of Bavaria through Würzburg, Bamberg and Nuremberg; the Moselle loops through the steepest vineyards in Europe to Bernkastel and Traben-Trarbach. Narrow water, small towns, no crowds.
Sailed as the linking stretch between the Rhine and the Danube, through the Main-Danube Canal and its chain of locks.
Colombia
The newest river in the fleet, and the one almost nobody has done. AmaWaterways pioneered luxury cruising on Colombia's Magdalena in 2025 - colonial Mompox, riverside villages, and Cartagena's walled city at the end of it. Paired with the best of South America on the way in.
Sailing on AmaMagdalena - purpose-built for the river, with just 60 guests aboard.
The journeys
Every one of these is live and bookable with Inspiring Vacations - packaged with the land, the rail and the flights where you want them, and priced in Australian dollars.

Not sure which river suits you?
Tell us roughly when you want to travel and which part of the world has always been on the list. Our cruise specialists know the AmaWaterways fleet, the ships behind each itinerary and which sailings are already filling - and they will tell you honestly if a different river suits you better.
Our partner, AmaWaterways
AmaWaterways has been designing river ships since 2002, around a single conviction - that the destination, not the vessel, is the reason to sail. So the ships stay small, the excursions are included, and each day opens with a genuine choice of pace: the long guided walk, the gentle one, or the bicycle.
Most carry between 100 and 160 guests. You unpack once, the view changes every morning, and the ship moors in the middle of town rather than an hour outside it.
Since 2002
AmaWaterways began with three families and one idea. Rudi Schreiner - a Vienna-born student who designed his first vessel, a raft for the Amazon, back in 1975 - founded the line in 2002 alongside Kristin Karst and the late Jimmy Murphy. Family-run for more than two decades, the line today sails the legendary rivers of Europe, Asia, Africa and South America - and the standards it was built on have not loosened.
Free online showcase
An hour with the people who build these journeys - and the exclusive offers revealed on the day.
Adam, our Cruise Product Manager, is joined by Kim from AmaWaterways to walk through the four rivers - the Danube, the Rhine, the Main and Moselle, and Colombia's Magdalena - and the three ways to pair a river cruise with a land journey. Bring your questions; they are answered live.
Register anyway. Every session is recorded, and we'll send you the replay to watch whenever it suits.
Registration is free and takes under a minute. A confirmation email with the viewing link follows.
